Walk on the Wild Side

Over the last couple weeks of walking I have veered into the woods from time to time. But yesterday I decided to end a few days run with a trail walk. The trail was about 4 miles of mixed terrain with awesome scenery making it a very peaceful walk. It was a bit on the cool side which made the air crisp which I enjoy very much. I made sure to take plenty of deep breaths. Ever since I read up on how important it is to get good amounts of fresh air I make it a point to take deep breaths of fresh air daily.

For those that do know, every cell in your body needs oxygen to function. When there isn’t enough to go around, your heart needs to work harder to make sure that what’s available gets to where it needs to go. Fresh air has plenty of oxygen, so a few deep breaths helps to bring in more of this vital gas to your body. This means your heart can relax, since it takes less effort to deliver what your body needs. End result? Your heart rate slows down, and your blood pressure lowers.

Adding another 73,079 steps to the count it brings my total to 221,601. I am just under a quarter of the way in on making my goal and yes, I am feeling great. As a reminder I will again post some benefits of setting such a goal as taking 1 million steps in 100 days or less. I hope some of you join in.
